Conversations that Serve Christ
Three of us travelled to the East Midlands Men’s Conference yesterday at Cornerstone Church, Nottingham. Men from all over the East Midlands met to discuss and study the topic of “Words”. How our words are powerful and have the ability to bring life or death. We discussed how we need help and encouragement to use our conversations to serve Christ in our friendships, marriages and in the church. What we say (or don’t say) matters. There was inspiring teaching, encouraging worship and good discussions. We explored …
Discussions surrounding …
- Our words have extraordinary power
- Our words reflect our hearts
- Our words are to be shaped by love
We must be aware of these problems:
- lying words
- harsh words
- arrogant words
- hasty words
- absent words
Cause for Reflection on Communication
We also reflected on nine contexts for godly words:
- in anger (James 1:20)
- in confrontation (James 5:20)
- in prayer (Ps 62:8)
- In praise (Phil 1:3,8)
- In adoration (Song of Songs 1:4)
- In repentance (2 Cor 7:10)
- In witness (2 Cor 5:20)
- In crisis (Ps 118:17)
- In ambition (Acts 2:17)
Overall it was a great day of fellowship and reflection on our conversations and words with hundreds of other Christian guys in the East Midlands.
